Why send through JoltMx?
If you just put you@yourdomain.com in the "From" field of an ordinary email, receiving servers will often flag it as spoofing - the mail isn't authenticated for your domain. Sending through JoltMx's SMTP submission service signs the message with your domain's DKIM key and aligns SPF, so it's trusted and lands in the inbox.
Step 1 - Create submission credentials
In the dashboard, open Sending → Submission credentials and create a username and password for the address you want to send as. Keep these somewhere safe - they're effectively the keys to sending as your domain.
Step 2 - Use these server settings
Add JoltMx as an SMTP (sending) server in your mail client:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| SMTP server | smtp.joltmx.io |
| Port | 2525 (STARTTLS) |
| Encryption | STARTTLS / TLS |
| Username | your submission username |
| Password | your submission password |
Confirm the exact values in your dashboard. Hostname and port are shown alongside your credentials, in case they differ for your account.
Step 3 - Add it in your client
The setup is the same idea everywhere - point the outgoing server at JoltMx:
- Gmail - Settings → Accounts → "Send mail as" → add your address and enter the SMTP settings above.
- Outlook / Apple Mail / Thunderbird - add or edit the account's outgoing (SMTP) server with the settings above.
Step 4 - Send a test
Send a message from your alias to another inbox you control. Open the received mail and check it shows your domain in the "From" address and passes authentication. Sent messages also appear in your JoltMx dashboard with a delivery timeline.
Good to know
- You can only send as addresses on verified domains. Add the domain first - see Add and verify your domain.
- Authentication is automatic. JoltMx applies DKIM signing and SPF alignment so you don't have to think about it.
- Sending counts toward your plan's daily message allowance, the same as forwarding.
