What is JoltMx?
JoltMx is a multi-tenant email routing and forwarding platform. It accepts inbound SMTP for your custom domains and forwards matching messages to a verified destination inbox - without you needing to host a mail server or provision a mailbox.
How is this different from just adding a Gmail alias?
Gmail aliases only work with Gmail-hosted addresses and give you no delivery visibility. JoltMx works with any domain you control, gives you routing rules, catch-all wildcards, full SPF/DKIM/DMARC results per message, and a complete delivery timeline - across as many domains as you like.
Do I need to manage a mail server?
No. You point your domain's MX records at JoltMx and we handle everything. There's no server to provision, no software to update, and no SMTP configuration to maintain.
What's the difference between catch-all and a named alias?
A named alias routes mail to a specific address (e.g. hello@yourdomain.com) to a defined destination. A catch-all forwards everything sent to any address on the domain - useful for parked domains or when you want to capture all mail regardless of what it was addressed to.
How does destination verification work?
Before any mail is forwarded to a destination, JoltMx sends a verification email to confirm ownership. Once confirmed, that address becomes available to all routing rules in your account. This prevents misrouted messages and ensures we only deliver to addresses you control.
