What this check looks at
BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) is a DNS record that points to your logo so supporting inboxes can display it beside your mail. This check looks for the record at default._bimi.yourdomain.com and reports whether it's published.
Why it matters
BIMI is the one check here that's about branding, not deliverability - it won't get you to the inbox, and not having it won't keep you out. Its value is trust and recognition: a verified logo makes your mail stand out and is harder for impersonators to fake. Crucially, it only works once your domain is at DMARC enforcement, so it doubles as a visible reward for doing authentication properly.
How the diagnostic grades it
| Result | Severity | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| BIMI published | Pass | Supporting inboxes can show your brand logo. |
| No BIMI record | Info | Optional, branding only. No deliverability penalty. |
How to set it up
- Get your DMARC to
p=quarantineorp=rejectfirst - BIMI requires enforcement. - Publish your logo as an SVG (the BIMI Tiny PS profile) and reference it in a TXT record at
default._bimi.yourdomain.com. - For most major mailbox providers, you'll also need a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) attesting you own the trademark.
